The Most Beautiful Villages in Baja California Sur

DESTINATION | Published on 17/03/2023
Optimizada todos santos los cabos

You are finally taking that trip to Baja California Sur, but as the planning began, you may have noticed the incredible variety of beautiful towns and villages like Todos Santos, Loreto Baja California Sur, and La Paz Mexico just to name a few. It can be difficult to choose between them, which is often why many people visit Baja California Sur on multiple vacations to experience everything it has to offer.

However, if you are not sure when you may have the chance to visit this incredible destination in the future, it may be best to choose one location like Loreto, Mexico between La Paz and Mulege, Mexico, and rent a car to go up and down the coast. Though you can find buses and rent cars through private driving services, having your own will give you the time you want in each of these amazing places.

Mexico, La Paz, Baja California Sur

Geography is the key to seeing as much as possible within the time constraints of your vacation. To see it all, you could start in Todos Santos which is situated south in the state of Baja California Sur on the west coast almost to Los Cabos and then travel to La Paz, Mexico which is slightly further north on the east coast of the Sea of Cortez. From there, it’s a matter of going straight up the coast to visit Loreto, Mexico, and finally ending your stay in Mulege, Mexico.

A Matter of Flights

When flying into Mexico, La Paz, Baja California Sur, you can begin your journey in La Paz, Mexico to experience a colonial port town that seamlessly blends the old world with the new with iconic architecture and picture-worthy teal waters.

Next, swing around the coast through San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas and then drive up to Todos Santos for a different vibe. Here you will find old Mexico that has been cherished and left on display for the curious cultural traveler. Wander down narrow brick streets lined with brightly painted buildings, explore all the wares of local artisans and vendors, and walk under the archways of colorful flags.

From there, you can make the stunning eight-hour drive up highway one to Mulege, Mexico, and spend a couple of days floating in teal waters that cut through a jungle oasis in the middle of the desert. You will want to see Requeson or Santispac beaches, but be careful, you may never want to leave.

Loreto Mexico

Finally, you can make your way back down to Loreto. This is the perfect place to end your travels and relax in quiet coves surrounded by stunning rock formations. Spend your evenings watching people in the central plaza.

Enjoy a guided hike up into the rugged mountains of the Sierra de la Giganta or take a boat to explore the three islands off the coast, Coronado Island, Isla Danzante, and Isla del Carmen. There’s plenty to see and do, but it’s also an ideal spot to relax near the Loreto, Baja California Sur international airport if you decide you want to go home.
